Abstract

Main topic of government action, the region planning is born from the necessity to insure a better repartition of wealth on the national territory. However, experience showed that theses policies depended closely on the authority that government exercised over local institutions. This paper brings some elements about the ways France has taken to organize its economic territory. Started after the second world war, these policies have undergone three trends corresponding to three different periods in the economic approach of government intervention. After an important period of interventionism, the government gradually chose the way of decentralisation and took into account the requirements of the european construction. But for which results?
