Abstract

El proceso de formación de regiones de origen y destino de la migración mexicana a Estados Unidos empezó en las primeras décadas del siglo XX. Se trata de un proceso dinámico, con avances y retrocesos, cambios e innovaciones. El proceso evolucionó de un fenómeno marcadamente regional hasta convertirse en uno de dimensiones nacionales, tanto en el país de origen como en el de destino. La dimensión espacial del fenómeno migratorio, entre México y Estados Unidos, se inserta en un proceso temporal de largo aliento que supera la centuria. De ahí que deba trabajarse al mismo tiempo las dimensiones espaciales y temporales.
