Abstract

La complejidad de los procesos migratorios contemporáneos ha hecho emerger una serie de preocupaciones vinculadas con distintas dimensiones vinculadas a los mismos, que en el pasado no tenían las mismas características ni revestían una importancia semejante. Durante mucho tiempo y en diversos contextos históricos, la movilidad de la población ocurrió como parte de los procesos de expansión y ocupación de territorios, sin alterar de manera significativa las relaciones entre los Estados y sus poblaciones, aunque en muchos casos se tratara de desplazamientos transfronterizos, es decir, migraciones de carácter internacional.
