Abstract

This paper suggests a holistic framework for assessing farm competitiveness, and analyses competitiveness of farms of different type and specialization in Bulgaria. First, it presents a new approach for assessing farm competitiveness taking into account production and governance efficiency of farms; farm’s potential for adaptation to market, institutional and natural environment; and level of sustainability of farms. Next, it assesses the levels of competitiveness of commercial farms of different type and specialization in the conditions of CAP implementation in Bulgaria.
