Napoleoni: oltre lo stereotipo
[Napoleoni: beyond the stereotype]

Abstract

The article is concerned with the critical assessment of the theoretical work of the late Italian economist Claudio Napoleoni (1924-1988). The author reviews some recent works on the subject and underlines his points of consent and dissent from them. The latter relate with the interpretation of the nature of Napoleoni's scientific program of research, with his ideological and methodological position and with his attitude towards Marxism, marginalism, Keynesism and "neo-ricardism". A central point in the discussion is the question of Napoleoni's alleged abandonment, return and final detachment from Marxian economic views. A fairly new portrait of this unconventional figure of social scientist comes out from these pages.
