Abstract

IN this article, the author elaborates on the co-operation between small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and research and development laboratories in the Małopolska region. He presents the role of technology transfer based on the experience of the 'Kraków Technology Park' Special Economic Zone. The article focuses particular attention on the pronciples behind the Park as well as the effects of its operation. The author also describes the role of innovation as the main determinants of SMEs competitiveness.
