The Role of Rent and Forest Policy in the British Columbia Strumpage System

Abstract

Rent and stumpage in the british Columbia (BC) softwood lumber industry have played a pivotal role in the Canada-United States softwood lumber dispute. The goal of the US in the dispute has been to limit lumber exports from Canada and increase domestic US prices.
