Reserva de biosfera. Parque Atlántico Mar Chiquito

Abstract

El Parque Atlántico Mar Chiquito integra la red Mundial de Reservas de la Biosfera y se rige por el marco estatutario denominado la Estrategia de Sevilla, en el cual se establecen las medidas recomendadas para la preservación de estos espacios y, a su vez, se señala que la conservación debe considerase tan importante como el desarrollo socioeconómico. El objetivo del siguiente trabajo es examinar la experiencia de la aplicación del concepto innovador de la reserva de Biosfera en el Parque Atlántico Mar Chiquito. Para ello, se definen los aspectos principales para consolidar la gestión ambiental en una Reserva que permiten la implementación de esta categoría de manejo en Mar Chiquita y se analiza la voluntad política, el conocimiento científico existente y la participación. A partir del análisis se puede concluir que el alcance de los objetivos propuestos para la reserva, no parece posible sin una gestión activa y participativa que logre un amplio acuerdo social para establecer estrategias de desarrollo sostenible.
