Abstract

This research examines the impact of the devaluation on agricultural production in the Peanut Basin -- a zone of rainfed crop production where more than half of Senegal's rural population lives. Three key questions are addressed: (1) Has the devaluation changed the profitability of the main crops? (2) Has the devaluation affected the choice of crop mix and technology? (3) Has the devaluation encouraged farmers to intensify in an economically and environmentally sustainable manner?
