Abstract

This flash edition brings some results on assessment of rural small-scale traders’ expectations and other relevant information about the current agricultural season harvest and trade. It was found that: 1) most of the traders in the Central and Northern regions expect lower maize harvest than in the same period of last year; 2) for cassava, traders in the Northern region expect higher harvests, while the Central region traders expect lower harvests than the last year; 3) the prices in the period of the survey were lower than in the same period last year; 4) the lower farm-gate prices, associated with inflation in general prices, had reduced the financial power of the farmers.
