Furniture distribution in Austria

Abstract

Among the Western European home furniture markets, Austria is the tenth biggest country, providing about 4% of WE demand. Over the 2008-2013 period the Austrian home furniture market, with an annual average increase of 0.5% , is one of the few WE countries (together with Norway, Switzerland , Sweden) that outperformed the Western European market The furniture distribution system in Austria mainly revolves around specialist retailers. The small independent retailers, in particular those operating in the upper price range, managed to increase slightly their sales. The report provides trends in home furniture consumption, analysis of the furniture distribution system by channel, retail formats and sales performances of top retailing companies operating in Austria.
