Felicità e scienza economica - Storia, problemi aperti e spunti teorici
Abstract
Il lavoro è uno studio del rapporto tra economia e felicità in una prospettiva storico-metodologica, con uno sguardo al dibattito attuale. In particolare l’autore si prefigge quattro obiettivi: (a) ripercorrere le vicissitudini dell’idea di felicità in economia (uno studio che, a mia conoscenza, non esiste ancora), individuando se, come, perché, quando e grazie a chi essa è uscita dall’orizzonte dalla scienza economica, dopo averlo occupato quasi interamente ai suoi albori; (b) cercare nel pensiero di economisti e studiosi del passato e del presente spunti teorici e problemi che possono offrire nuove e feconde idee al dibattito attuale; (c) reintrodurre nel dibattito la teoria classica della felicità come eudaimonia, un concetto assente oggi e che può offrire importanti spunti; (d) mostrare che le vicissitudini del tema della felicità in economia sono indissolubilmente legate con quelle dell’individualismo e dell’idea strumentale di razionalità: la felicità, costitutivamente sociale e non strumentale, non è compatibile con un’idea di economia ancorata all’attuale teoria della scelta razionale.
