Abstract

Dieser Beitrag untersucht die Entwicklungen im restrukturierten kalifornischen Strommarkt. Dabei wird zu Beginn auf die Entwicklungen sowohl der Marktstrukturen als auch der Preise seit 1998 eingegangen. Anschließend wird nach den Ursachen für die enormen Preissteigerungen seit dem Frühsommer 2000 gefragt. Im letzten Kapitel werden die Ergebnisse zusammengefasst und einige Schlussfolgerungen präsentiert.

This paper examines developments in the restructured Californian power market. The first part deals with market structure developments and with price movements since 1998. Subsequently, the paper analyzes the causes for the dramatic price increases since early summer of 2000. The last part summarizes the results and presents some conclusions.
