    Abstract

    Esta publicación está dirigida a las autoridades de supervisión bancaria que deseen establecer un marco regulatorio y de supervisión para las microfinanzas o que tengan a su cargo la responsabilidad de desarrollarlo. Su propósito es responder a la creciente demanda de principios y directrices claramente identificables sobre la manera de regular y supervisar las microfinanzas. La conciencia cada vez mayor respecto al potencial de las microfinanzas, junto al surgimiento de varias instituciones muy exitosas y en rápido crecimiento, ha colocado el tema en la agenda política de la mayoría de los países en desarrollo.
