Water Charge Instruments for Environmental Management in Latin America: From Theoretical to Practical Issues: France Country Case
AbstractThis presentation discusses water management policy in France and the water charge design process. The discussion includes institutional and legal barriers and the three different periods of implementation. Also included: comparisons of subsidies and charge rates, drawbacks of the current water charge policy, and recommendations towards a sustainable implementation path. This document was presented by the Environment Network of the Regional Policy Dialogue for the 2nd Hemispheric Meeting celebrated on February 25th and 26th, 2003.
