In view of global crises like the threat to the natural environment and numerous public and private-economical scandals moral and ethical questions encounter general interest. Ever more humans ask themselves about the sense and the sustainability of economic development. However, ethics does not only come as a vehicle of crisis reflection into the discussion, but also as requirement of a minimum moral in economics, without which a modern organized society seems not possible in the long run. In this paper the fundamentals of ethical thinking are structured into the economic discussion and the bridge to practical models in business ethics is struck.
