Abstract

In the Rousseauist tradition, the idea of sovereignty generally refers to the sovereignty of thebody politic. Rousseau never yields nevertheless to the holist temptation. Individual is at thecore of his system. The aim of this paper is to question his idea of liberty, understood as moralautonomy, in particular in its relation to the concept of authority.
