Abstract

La réglementation environnementale et la production de techniques permettant de s'y conformer, en continuant à satisfaire la demande des consommateurs finaux, coévoluent de façon plus ou moins bien coordonnée. Cet article propose une représentation formalisée de la situation de choix d'un industriel qui, face à l'éventualité d'apparition de normes plus exigeantes, doit décider s'il doit lancer un programme de Recherche-Développement (RD) visant à la mise au point d'une technologie innovante à finalité environnementale. L'influence des probabilités d'occurrence des nouvelles exigences réglementaires et de succès du programme, ses délais de réalisation influent sur la décision de s'y engager (mesurés par un modèle) et, indirectement, sur le type d'innovation en matière de service d'environnement (peu d'innovations spécifiques et domination des transferts de techniques d'autres secteurs industriels).
