Abstract

The protected designation of origin (PDO) cheese have the ability to create value and to distribute it to milk producers. However, registering a product does not guarantee this positive economic result, which depends of the quality of the collective organisation management. This paper compares various case studies in France and Switzerland and proposes a theoretical analysis of collective organisation for explaining the diversity of the observed results.
