Abstract

Quel est le temps de travail des Français ? Répondre à cette question suppose de réaliser des comparaisons internationales sur les heures travaillées. Or celles-ci soulèvent de nombreux problèmes méthodologiques qu'ils convient de garder à l'esprit lors de leur analyse1. La grande diversité législative et institutionnelle sur le temps de travail entre les pays, le manque d'homogénéité des concepts, des modes de collecte et des bases de données, la multiplicité des sources et leur non-concordance entre les pays fragilisent les comparaisons dans ce domaine, notamment lorsque celles-ci sont réalisées en dynamique. Ce chapitre propose de revenir rapidement sur les concepts de durée du travail et d'établir une comparaison entre la France et ses voisins pour l'année 2004 (...).
