Abstract

La croissance du PIB britannique s'est établie à 2,8 % en 2006 et à 3 % en glissement sur un an au quatrième trimestre. Ceci porte à 58 le nombre de trimestres de croissance ininterrompue, un record pour une économie auparavant cyclique. L'inflation, restée très modérée au cours de ce long cycle de croissance, a cependant accéléré au cours des derniers mois de 2006 et a atteint en décembre la fourchette haute de la cible de la politique monétaire, soit 3 % pour l'indice des prix à la consommation harmonisé (IPCH). Ceci a conduit la Banque d'Angleterre à relever son taux directeur à 5,25 % en janvier. [Premier paragraphe]
