Le contrôle de qualité dans l'armement au début du XXè siècle : comment passer de la théorie des probabilités à la pratique industrielle ?

Abstract

De nombreux travaux ont été consacrés à la "révolution probabiliste" dans les sciences, exactes ou humaines , mais très peu se sont intéressés à la mise en oeuvre de ces nouveaux modes de pensée dans l'organisation industrielle et dans la gestion des entreprises. Les possibilités d'application y sont nombreuses, depuis les études de marché et la prévision des ventes jusqu'à la planification des opérations et ce qu'on a appelé la recherche opérationnelle. Le domaine de l'organisation militaire et des industries d'armement a souvent été un terrain d'expérimentation de ces méthodes. C'est particulièrement le cas en France pour ce qui concerne le contrôle statistique de la qualité, domaine que deux "artilleurs", un officier et un ingénieur, ont défriché, parmi les tout premiers, en mobilisant les outils et modes de pensée du raisonnement probabiliste.
