Rigidités du marché du travail et chômage : quelles relations ? Une réflexion à partir du cas de la France

    Abstract

    Ce mémoire met en évidence les relations entre les rigidités du marché du travail et le chômage en s'appuyant sur le cas de la France, dans le but d'expliquer du moins en partie le chômage. Avec le premier choc pétrolier en 1973 apparait un chômage de masse dans la communauté européenne. En 1979, le second choc pétrolier engendre à son tour une nouvelle envolée des taux de chômage. Comme nous le verrons au cour de notre première partie, malgré les politiques de lutte contre le chômage ce dernier est élevé et persistant. D'un point de vue théorique, les rigidités du marché du travail apportent une explication au taux de chômage élevé que connait la France. La législation sur la protection de l'emploi apporte également des éléments de réponse quant à la durée du chômage qui est particulièrement longue en France. Elle ne nous permet cependant pas de tirer de conclusion quant au taux de chômage. Enfin, nous constaterons au cours de notre développement que le principe de flexicurité, à travers le cas danois, met en évidence les avantages que la France pourrait retirer d'une plus grande flexibilité de son marché du travail.
