Abstract

Recently the measurement of Social economy has dramatically improved in France despite its invisibility in National accounts. The knowledge of its larger part, the nonprofit organisations, depends on the surveys run at Centre d'économie de la Sorbonne, a unique data base while cross-country comparison rely on the satellite account of Nonprofit institutions. Finally indicators to aknowledge the role of nonprofits in affording welfare and building the society have to be invented and implemented. However the first survey on volunteering by INSEE and the Stiglitz Commission Report show the way
