Abstract

Ever since the 1980s, we have witnessed the emergence of an interstitial space of production and distribution between the trade logics of the cultural industry and the public institutional policies. A new territorial and urban economy of the culture is being formed from a variety of small and medium productions and companies. These mutations of the cultural sector have brought about new forms of education and production. "Pluriactivity"- understood as set of related and complementary activities, is on the rise.Far from being a marginal phenomenon, an indicator of a lack of " professionnalism ", this is actually a massive phenomenon which reveals an evolution of the working practices and the artistic practices, as appears from an inquiry conducted between 2004 and 2005 with 1040 "intermittents" in the entertainment industry, some major results of which are presented in this contribution.
