Entre el estudio y el trabajo: Las decisiones de los jóvenes peruanos después de concluir la educación básica regular

Abstract

El presente estudio muestra que 2 de cada 5 adolescentes se dedican a trabajar al finalizar sus estudios básicos, mientras que solo 1 de cada 5 decide continuar estudios superiores. Si bien la oferta de educación superior privada ha aumentado exponencialmente, es posible que esta no se encuentre al alcance de muchos estudiantes peruanos. De ahí que la mayoría prefiera trabajar una vez concluidos sus estudios de educación básica. Por otro lado, los análisis descriptivos confirman lo indicado en la literatura: son los estudiantes indígenas, que viven en contextos de pobreza, de padres menos educados, que estudiaron en escuelas públicas y viven en zonas rurales los que tienen menos probabilidades de continuar estudios de educación superior.
