Abstract

Dans le cadre d'une approche purement descriptive et en complement de la litterature theorique et empirique traitant des determinants economiques de la croissance syndicale, nous consacrons la premiere partie de ce travail a la recherche des tendances profondes qui ont caraterise l'evolution du mouvement syndical canadien durant les dernieres decennies. Nous accordons une attention particuliere a la distinction entre l'evolution des effectifs syndicaux des secteurs prive et public, ainsi qu'au niveau des differentes branches d'activite composant les deux secteurs. Dans la deuxieme partie nous discutons du rapport entre certaines caracteristiques du regime des relations de travail et la situation du syndicalisme au Canada.
