Abstract

L'industrie des jeux de hasard a conservé une longueur d'avance sur la plupart des branches d'activité. Le jeu a fait grimper les recettes et créé des emploi dans bien des régions. Bien que certaines collectivités n'aient pas accueilli l'arrivée des casinos et des appareils de loterie vidéo à bras ouverts, la plupart des ménages canadiens prennent part à une forme ou une autre de jeu et y consacrent de l'argent. Le présent article brosse le portrait de l'industrie des jeux de hasard et propose des données statistiques sur les retombées économiques, l'emploi et les recettes publiques de cette branche d'activité. Il présente aussi des comparaisons provinciales.
