Abstract

"We live in an age of uncertainty—an age that evokes both a sense of hope and one of deep concern. It is a time of hope because, perhaps like never before, we are witness to so many distinct efforts to shape a better and more peaceful world for all. We see governments joining hands to enhance the well-being of citizens and the global community through shared knowledge and technology, common markets, and commitments to environmental protection. We also hear myriad civil society voices standing shoulder-to-shoulder with governments for a more humane society and a secure planet." from Text
