Trabalho E Progresso Técnico: Uma Análise Nos Níveis De Emprego, Renda E Qualificação Na Indústria Paulista

Abstract

As relações entre o progresso técnico e o mercado de trabalho são estudadas por diversos autores atualmente tanto no cenário nacional como internacional, apresentando inusitadamente resultados ambíguos. No âmbito nacional, alguns estudos encontraram evidências de que firmas tecnologicamente mais avançadas apresentam trabalhadores melhor remunerados em decorrência da sua maior qualificação. Assim, com o objetivo de trazer evidências acerca da relação entre progresso técnico e emprego industrial, esse artigo procura medir o impacto da inovação tecnológica sobre o emprego, renda e nível de qualificação dos trabalhadores da indústria. Para isso foram utilizadas informações constantes na PAEP (Pesquisa de Atividade Econômica Paulista) de 2001, associadas a informações da RAIS (Relação de Informações Anuais Sociais) entre o período de 1997 a 2003. O trabalho utilizou a metodologia PSM (Propensity Score Matching) com o intuito de controlar possível viés sobre as observáveis e diferença em diferenças para controlar viés sobre não observáveis. Os resultados indicam um efeito positivo e significante da inovação sobre o emprego e para a qualificação do trabalhador para a maioria das variáveis de tratamento construídas, porém o mesmo não foi evidenciado para a renda.
