Abstract

Ms. Sigma Huda a Bangladeshi national and a special rapporteur for United Nations Commission on Human Rights was arrested in Bangladesh during the state of emergency on 5 July 2007 on the charges of corruption. She was sentenced a three year imprisonment. While Ms. Huda is in jail no communications sent on her behalf to protect the victims of trafficking. While UN has ruled on Ms. Huda’s lack of immunity, it has failed to feel the gap left in UN protection system. ACHR is concerned over the failure of the Human Rights Council to address this protection gap for the victims of trafficking.
