We investigated the factors driving three types of environmentally-friendly household behaviour in Northern Ireland between 2003 and 2006: household waste recycling, reduction in the use of cars and actions to improve wildlife in private gardens. We found that a general concern for environmental issues is positively related to pro-environmental activities and that the same applies to specific aspects closely related to each particular behaviour, except for household waste recycling: people who are more worried about how waste is managed in Northern Ireland does not necessarily recycle more of their household waste.
