This paper examines the effects on examination performance of having a part-time job whilst in full-time post-sixteen education. The data cover 428 young people in sixth forms and further education colleges in Northern Ireland between 1993 and 1998. Between 35% and 45% of these young people engaged in part time employment during their spell of post-compulsory education.
