Abstract

In this paper, I would like to argue that for the countries in developing Asia, like developing countries in other parts of the world, if their governments adopt a right development strategy, they have good opportunities to achieve dynamic growth and equitable income distribution in their process of development. However, many of them followed an inappropriate strategy and impeded their opportunities to realize this growth potential. I would also like to propose an approach for the developing countries to transit from the old to the new development strategy smoothly.
