Stabilität und Wandel von Generationenbeziehungen

Abstract

In diesem Beitrag geht es um Stabilität und Wandel ost-und westdeutscher Generationenbeziehungen nach der Wiedervereinigung. Im Mittelpunkt der Betrachtung stehen erwachsene Kinder und Eltern, die nicht mehr im selben Haushalt leben. Die allermeisten Eltern und erwachsenen Kinder wohnen nicht weit voneinander entfernt und berichten von einem engen Verhältnis zueinander. Gleichzeitig stehen viele Eltern bzw. Kinder der jeweils anderen Generation (potentiell) für Hilfeleistungen zur Verfügung. Bei der replikativen Querschnittbetrachtung stellt sich heraus, daß die Eltern-Kind-Beziehungen insgesamt von einer großen Stabilität gekennzeichnet sind. Im Gegensatz dazu belegen die Panelanalysen ein weit höheres Ausmaß an individuellen Veränderungen. Dabei werden insgesamt mehr intergenerationale Beziehungen als lockerer denn als enger bewertet- dies gilt insbesondere für westdeutsche erwachsene Kinder. Ostdeutsche weisen im Vergleich mit Westdeutschen nicht nur kurz nach dem Fall der Mauer engere Generationenverhältnisse auf, sondern sie berichten auch im Zeitverlauf wesentlich seltener von flüchtiger und häufiger von enger gewordenen Beziehungen. --
