Desigualdad de Oportunidades en Colombia

Abstract

Este trabajo descompone la contribución de los “esfuerzos” y las “circunstancias" sobre la desigualdad de los ingresos laborales en Colombia. Además, indaga sobre el impacto de las variables asociadas a las circunstancias de origen. Para ello, se aplica la estrategia microeconométrica sugerida por Bourguignon et al. (2007) y Ferreira y Gignoux (2008). La información a utilizar para este análisis corresponde a la última Encuesta de Calidad de Vida (ECV) disponible (2008). Entre las principales conclusiones que arroja el estudio, se encontró que la desigualdad económica puede explicar entre un 25% y un 50% de la desigualdad observada; asimismo, la educación de los padres son las circunstancias de nacimiento más importante para explicar la desigualdad de oportunidades en Colombia, lo que comprueba que la baja movilidad social de nuestro país es una incontrovertible fuente de inequidad.
