Abstract

¿Por qué Grecia es diferente a West Virginia? Ambos estados son unidades pequenas en conjuntos amplios con un tipo de cambio único. Esta nota intenta, utilizando elementos estilizados, dar una respuesta mientras discurre sobre el concepto de ajuste en economía pequenas y su aplicación al caso de Grecia.En plan de lo que sigue es el siguiente: la sección 2 trata de una cisis y el ajuste subsecuente en una economía pequena y abierta; algunos aspectos de las áreas monetarias que discuten en la sección 3; las secciones 4 y 5 se dedican a las políticas que se introdujeron para atenuar los efectos de la caída de la demanda privada que siguió al estallido de la burbuja global de la propiedad inmobiliaria; finalmente, en la sección 6 se resumen algunas conclusiones.
