Desigualdad, altruismo y crecimiento económico

Abstract

Este documento plantea un modelo de crecimiento económico con agentesheterogéneos, en el que se incorpora el hecho de que la preferencia por laeducación aumenta con el nivel de ingreso. Los resultados del modeloestablecen que economías con altos niveles de heterogeneidad en lasdotaciones de capital humano de su población alcanzan niveles de productode largo plazo menores, por lo que políticas consistentes con la disminuciónen la heterogeneidad son necesarias para favorecer el desarrollo económico.Asimismo, se encuentra que proveer educación pública de calidad permiteuna estabilización de la brecha salarial en el largo plazo.Palabras clave: Crecimiento económico, generaciones traslapadas,agentes heterogéneos, altruismo, educación.1
