Evolución del sector agrícola en el Departamento del Meta y los llanos orientales 1991 - 2003
Abstract
La d�cada de los noventas fue dif�cil para la agricultura colombiana, pues durante dicho per�odo el sector agropecuario present� una de las crisis m�s profundas de su historia, que se reflej� en bajas tasas de crecimiento y en algunos a�os negativas del producto interno agr�cola; contracci�n de las �reas cultivadas y por lo tanto reducci�n en los vol�menes de producci�n y bajos niveles de cr�dito; deterioro de los ingresos de los productores rurales; incremento acelerado de las importaciones sectoriales; y comportamiento desfavorable de otros indicadores de desempe�o. No obstante, aunque en el consolidado de los departamentos pertenecientes a los Llanos Orientales: Meta, Arauca, Casanare y Vichada, se registr� una tasa promedio de crecimiento negativa del 0.1% en el valor agregado agropecuario, siendo este comportamiento derivado, b�sicamente, del bajo desempe�o logrado en Casanare, (-3.9%); los dem�s departamentos obtuvieron progresiones positivas, destac�ndose en t�rminos de valor a precios constantes de 1994, el Meta, como el de mejor evoluci�n con 3.2%, seguido por Arauca y Vichada con 1.0% y 12.2% respectivamente, mientras que en el consolidado nacional fue del 1.3%. De otra parte, es importante destacar que en la producci�n agr�cola de la Orinoquia, particularmente en el Meta y Casanare, considerados como los departamentos ricos de la regi�n, ganaron participaci�n los cultivos permanentes, especialmente la palma africana, en detrimento de cultivos semestrales como la soya, el sorgo y el algod�n, lo cual ha llevado a que este cultivo sea considerado como una de las principales apuestas productivas para el futuro desarrollo econ�mico de estos departamentos.Download Info
