Abstract

Un índice de costo de vida comparativo es una medida de las diferencias en los precios de los artículos contenidos en una canasta similar de bienes en distintas ciudades. La inflación es el aumento promedio en un período de tiempo dado (mes, año) de los precios de los bienes de una misma canasta. En el largo plazo la inflación y el costo de vida comparativo están relacionados. Los datos colombianos muestran que existen diferencias en el costo de vida que son máximo de 35%, sin embargo estas se reducen en el tiempo. La razón, es que las ciudades con costos de vida bajos mantuvieron inflaciones relativas más altas, lo que se traduce en convergencia en el costo de vida comparativo
