Educación, nutrición y salud: retos para el caribe colombiano

Abstract

El objetivo de la presente investigación es proponer estrategias y acciones quecontribuyan a mejorar el capital humano en la Costa Caribe, y así lograr mejor calidad de vida y aumentar los niveles de competitividad y de crecimiento económico regional. La inversión en educación y salud contribuye de manera significativa con el desarrolloeconómico de las naciones, al generar elevadas tasas de rentabilidad social y de retorno privado. El trabajo se compone de dos partes: en la primera se presentan de manera sucinta los indicadores más relevantes relacionados con la educación, la salud y la nutrición en el Caribe colombiano. Se tomó como punto de comparación la medianacional. En la segunda parte, se recogen una serie de proyectos y estrategiasencaminadas a mejorar el nivel de vida de la población de la región Caribe, a partir demás y mejor educación, prácticas saludables y nutrición balanceada. Esta larga lista de acciones, metas y estrategias se puede resumir en tres propuestas: universalizar lacobertura de secundaria y expandir la cobertura de preescolar; promover elaseguramiento universal en salud en población pobre y vulnerable, y desarrollar unprograma de desnutrición cero en ninos menores de 5 anos en la región Caribe.
