De cara al ballotage del 29 de Octubre en Brasil, en el presente trabajo se delinea, en primer lugar, un balance de la administración Da Silva 2003- 2006 en materia de política interna y política exterior. En segundo término, se abordan los lineamientos de los dos candidatos –“Lula” da Silva y Gerardo Alckim- en ambas dimensiones de análisis, pretendiendo destacar las diferencias y similitudes en sus programas de gobierno. En tercer lugar, se analizan los resultados de la primera vuelta del 1 de Octubre, con eje en las condiciones de gobernabilidad a las que deberá enfrentarse el próximo mandatario brasileño para el período de gobierno 2007- 2010.
