Abstract

This note presents a brief historical review of the food issue in Brazil, in order to allow understanding how the initial process of food production, regional differences and the development of public policies for the food supply contributed to the current food situation in Brazil. Major research findings that addressed the topic are highlighted. Data revealed improvements in indicators of malnutrition.
