IYER, former Secretary, Water Resources, in the Government of India; until recently Research Professor (now Honorary Research Professor), Centre for Policy Research, New Delhi; Consultant to the World Bank in a review of water sector strategy (April-May, 2000, May 2002); Consultant to the World Commission on Dams for a study of India's experience with large dams (1999-2000); Member of India's National Commission on Integrated Water Resource Planning (1996-1999); Member of the `Vision 2020 Committee' of India's Planning Commission (2000-2001); Author of books: A Grammar of Public Enterprises, Rawat, Jaipur, 1991; WATER: Perspectives, Issues, Concerns, Sage Publications, 2003; editor / co-editor of three books (Harnessing the Eastern Himalayan Rivers, Converting Water into Wealth, Mid-Year Review of the Economy 1993-94); contributor of papers / chapters to 18 books edited by others; numerous (more than a hundred) articles and papers.
