Abstract

Este documento propone una métrica para la evaluación del monto de activos externos de reserva de la autoridad monetaria. Si bien el tradicional concepto de optimalidad es de compleja aplicación empírica en estos casos, es posible determinar con cierto nivel de probabilidad los riesgos que el banco central puede desear cubrir con sus reservas precautorias. Para ello, se propone una metodología asimilable a un valor-enriesgo en dos etapas, donde se define endógenamente el período en el cual las reservas pueden ser requeridas mientras que, en una segunda etapa, estos riesgos se cuantifican para un cierto nivel de significación.
