Abstract

El principal objetivo de este trabajo consiste en evaluar el estado en el que quedó el Municipio de Santa Lucía, Atlántico después de la inundación que se produjo como consecuencia de la ruptura del Canal del Dique, el 30 de noviembre de 2010. Para ello se presentan cifras asociadas a las afectaciones que la calamidad generó sobre las distintas dimensiones socioeconómicas, tanto del municipio como del departamento, aparte de los esfuerzos encaminados a atender la emergencia invernal en el Departamento del Atlántico, junto con indicadores asociados a los avances en la ejecución de los recursos asignados para superar la emergencia. La información recopilada permite concluir que la inundación produjo un impacto sustancial sobre Santa Lucía, potencializando la pobreza que tradicionalmente ha caracterizado a esta subregión, sin ser la causa de la misma. En ese sentido, la atención de la emergencia constituye una excelente oportunidad para que Santa Lucía abandone la senda de pobreza que históricamente le ha caracterizado y mejorar el bienestar de sus habitantes.
