Note: Since APRA?s establishment, a key task on our policy agenda has been the development of a framework of prudential supervision for conglomerates involving authorised deposit-taking institutions (ADIs). This paper concludes APRA?s deliberations on this issue. Although much of the framework has already been established in earlier discussion papers (see for example, Policy Framework for the Prudential Supervision of Conglomerate Groups Containing Authorised Deposit-taking Institutions, issued by APRA in April 2000), two contentious and important areas have remained unresolved: these related to capital adequacy and large exposures.
