Note: The Basel Committee on Banking Supervision is looking to introduce a new capital adequacy framework to replace existing international guidelines contained in its 1988 Capital Accord. The Committee has issued a consultative paper (refer BIS Press Release 3 June 1999 on the BIS website www.bis.org ) outlining some proposals for change and is seeking comments on those proposals by end March 2000. APRA will be preparing a submission to the Committee and would appreciate receiving any comments that interested parties might wish to make, preferrably by end December 1999 .
