Abstract

Já as exportações do Brasil para a Índia recebem influência de outros fatores, além da renda nacional indiana e da taxa de câmbio.----------------------- The objective of this study is to identify the key factors that influence trade between Brazil and India. The article analyses the trade flow between the two countries in the period from 1980 to 2005 and identifies the most important trade products and the characteristics of Brazilian and Indian imports and exports. The econometric study identifies the variables that influence trade relations Indo-Brazilian. The examination of the results shows that over the decade of 1980, the flow of commerce remained virtually unchanged. Only from the years 1990, with the economic reforms and economic openness, Brazil and India began to market more among themselves. Meanwhile, the Indo-Brazilian trade makes great strides since 2000. Nevertheless, the Indo-Brazilian trade is highly concentrated in a few products. The study of the main determinants of trade relations between the two countries reveals that determinants are national income, represented by the GDP of each nation, and the real exchange rate. The results shows that the Brazilian imports from India are heavily explained by these variables, and the exchange rate of a previous period has great effect on current imports. Brazilian exports to India are influenced of other factors besides the Indian national income and the exchange rate.
