Abstract

Este artigo identifica os grupos de produtos do estado de Mato Grosso que exibem vantagens competitivas no comércio exterior durante o período 1996-2007. Para tanto, com base em dados da Secretaria de Comércio Exterior do Ministério da Indústria e Comércio, estimam-se indicadores de Comércio Exterior, tais como VCR (Vantagens Comparativas Reveladas), ICSC (Índice de Contribuição ao Saldo da Balança Comercial) e TX (Taxa de Cobertura). Além disso, identificam-se pontos fortes e pontos fracos desse comércio. De modo geral os resultados apontam que o Estado possui vantagens competitivas nos grupos de produtos: I (produtos do reino animal), II (produtos do reino vegetal), III (óleo e gorduras vegetais), IV (produtos das indústrias alimentícias e bebidas), VIII (couros e peles), IX (madeira e carvão vegetal), XI (têxtil e vestuário) e XIV (metais preciosos) e é dependente da importação de produtos dos grupos: VI (produtos químicos) XV (metais comuns), XVI (máquinas e equipamentos) e XVII (material de transporte). Esses caracteres moldam uma economia primário-exportadora, competitiva e com inserção externa bem-definida: gerar divisas externas, visto que a grande maioria da produção interna de soja e de outros bens primários destinam-se à exportação, desempenhando relevante função na geração de superávit da balança comercial brasileira.----------------------------------------------That article looks for to identify the groups of products of the state of Mato Grosso that represent competitive advantages in external trade, in the period of 1996 -2007. For so much, it was used of indicators of External Trade such like RCA - Revealed Comparative Advantage, ICBTB - Index of Contribution to the Balance of the Trade balance, TX - Tax of Covering and the identification of the strong points and weak points. In the general results appeared that Mato Grosso possesses competitive advantages in the groups of products I, II, III, IV, VIII, IX, XI and XIV, respectively: products of animal origin, products of vegetable origin, oil and vegetable fats, products of the provision industries and drinks, wood and coal vegetable, textile and clothing and precious metals, and it is dependent of import of products of the groups of VI, XV, XVI and XVII, respectively: chemical products, common metals, machines and equipments, and transport material. These characters shape an economy primary-exporting, competitive and integration with external well-defined: generate foreign currency, since the vast majority of domestic production of soybeans and other goods primary target the export, playing important role in the generation of surplus of the Brazilian trade balance.
